Bjorn headed to San Diego in July, as you can see it was a terrifying flight.
Bjorn attended a Padres game on his birthday. We tried to tell him he should be a good sport and cheer both teams but he just did not like the Dodgers (or their fans to be quite frank).
Bjorn attempted to become the next "balloon boy" but messed up his balloon to weight calculations.
Bjorn wonders how someone knew exactly what he wanted for his birthday: bubblewrap!
Bjorn fell alseep at his birthday party so we had to wake him up when it was time to eat cake. However, I don't think he ever really woke up and probably thought he was stuck in a nightmare where a horde of people were staring at him and trying to get him to stick his hands in an unknown sticky substance.
Bjorn may have changed into his casual island attire but he still couldn't completely relax, why was everyone suddenly letting him eat cake, giving him toys, and thinking everything he does is cute?
Bjorn prepares for a road trip to the Eastern Sierra, Yosemite, and San Fransico.
Bjorn has heard it's important to inspect your tires before a long trip.
Reading on the road. We are pretty sure Bjorn is super advanced and learning to read upside down just to challenge himself. We have already ordered a special bumper sticker for our minivan which says "My child is in daycare and can read upside down (to himself) which most likely means he would be on their honor roll if they had one."
Taking a break at a roadside park along highway 395.
Hiking in Little Lakes Valley.
Megan, Sherrie, and Mick.
Marsh Lake.
Bjorn had practiced riding in the pack.
It wasn't long before he fell asleep and looked like a dog with his head out the window.
This just made us paranoid about how well we had applied sunscreen (he was boycotting hats at the time).
Above Chickenfoot Lake. Bjorn and Mick are sitting on a rock along the shore in the bottom left.
Mick and Bjorn on that rock.
Strictly scenery.
At the hotel in his new pajamas.
Bjorn wonders how his mom can walk so slow. So slow.
At Mono Lake. The shoreline was completely covered with Alkali flies, I am not sure why Bjorn was licking his lips. Although, Megan did say the park ranger who was giving a tour told some kids to eat the flies (which they did) to demonstrate that they were an important food source for the Kutzadika'a people at one time.
Learning to walk near a cliff. Olmsted Point, Yosemite.
Bjorn at Yosemite Valley.
It was a long drive to San Fransico so Bjorn had to take every opportunity to stretch his tiny legs.
In front of Bridalveil Falls.
Grace welcoming Bjorn to San Francisco.
Asleep in front of Alcatraz. At Bjorn's request, we have agreed not to show any parental association with him when photos are taken.
His first carousel ride. Neither Grace nor Bjorn gave any indication that this was the least bit exciting. Kids these days, I guess riding mermaid horses just isn't cool anymore.
Back in the saddle again. Marin Headlands, San Francisco.
Rodeo Beach on a cold summer day.
There are many tourist attractions in San Francisco but Bjorn was only interested in the playgrounds.
Bjorn took his first solo steps in San Francisco and was ready for more practice once we got back to Encinitas.
Apparently Bjorn is afraid of babies.
Bjorn is always watching.
Bjorn and I frowning at the sea in Encinitas.
Now he is cursing at the sea. Aye Bjorn, the sea is a harsh mistress, but you seem too young for such scorn.
It may be pre-emptive anger, one day in the future Bjorn may catch a prize marlin out at sea only to have it eaten by sharks on his harrowing journey home.
Okay, I may have misinterpeted his previous actions because he seems fine now.
Yeah, actually he enjoyed watching the waves splash around.
This photo doesn't seem like anything too special now, but at the time he was just starting to be able to stand and take steps himself.
Baby and the sea.
Back in Ann Arbor, Bjorn and his neighborhood buddy are on the prowl. They both like to eat grass.
Bjorn likes to moisturize his face with an avacado mask.
Bjorn spots an airplane overhead. Usually, about every 10 minutes.
Bjorn plays peek-a-boo.
Bjorn enters a splash zone at his friend Ian's birthday party.
Tunnel vision.
Bjorn tries to remember how to remember things.
Flying high.
Bjorn beats the heat.
This photo is not 3 months old, like the others.
First steps.
He is supposed to be eating his birthday cake.
First steps, on a beach.
Oooooohh! electrical socket!
2nd try with birthday cake
